About This Place

Nestled in the heart of Sacramento at 232 Jibboom Street, Nenas Mexican Cuisine serves up a vibrant and authentic Mexican dining experience that beckons locals and visitors alike. This family-owned restaurant is celebrated for its commitment to tradition, crafting every dish with care and local ingredients that truly honor the essence of Mexican flavor.

Nenas Mexican Cuisine shines brightest through its masterful handmade flour and corn tortillas—highlighted again and again in customer praise. These tortillas, soft yet hearty, provide the perfect foundation for popular dishes such as the Tampiquena, Surf and Turf, and the classic Chicken Mole. Diners can indulge in robust plates like the Beef Taco Enchilada and Tostada combination or savor the rich spices of Fajitas de Camaron. The menu also delivers comfort in generous portions, from the hearty Breakfast Burrito and Huevos Rancheros to the kid-friendly Chicken Nuggets & Fries and Enchilada Kids meal, ensuring there’s something memorable for every palate.

The culinary craftsmanship is matched by delightful beverages, including perfectly balanced Micheladas and Margaritas, making it a great place to unwind and toast Mexican flavors. Guests often rave about “endless chips and salsa” available even at breakfast, adding a festive touch to every meal.

Diners will find their senses awakened not just by the food but also by the warm, lively atmosphere. As Geraldine GJ mentions, the staff are attentive and welcoming, complementing the homegrown recipes with genuine hospitality. The occasional live music, even by request of artists on-site, echoes the rich cultural vibe, transporting guests straight to the heart of Mexico. While the bustling environment can get lively, especially with large parties, the vibrant energy only adds to the experience of dining here.

Customer stories reveal a restaurant that goes beyond just feeding its patrons. Kimberly Moran’s family-friendly seating arrangements and the staff’s dedication to accommodating large groups highlight the personal touch that defines Nenas Mexican Cuisine. Meanwhile, Peter G’s appreciation for the perfect rice, refried beans, and that unforgettable handmade tortilla speaks volumes about the care poured into every dish.

For dessert, the Tres Leches Cheesecake is a must-try — a luscious, creamy treat that rounds off the meal beautifully. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick lunch or settling in for a festive dinner, Nenas Mexican Cuisine offers a robust taste of Mexico with every bite. Supporting this family-owned gem is supporting a slice of Sacramento’s authentic culinary soul.

Local ingredients made into homegrown recipes. Great staff, stiff drinks, awesome food portions- top notch homemade tortillas. Live music available by request from artist on site.

We decided to visit this place on a spur-of-the-moment whim, and I couldn’t be happier that we did. I wasn't feeling too hungry and only ordered a carne asada taco. However, there was a bit of a mix-up initially; the server brought out an entire plate of carne asada with rice and other sides. After I clarified my order, she quickly fixed it. Despite the misunderstanding, which was minor and easily resolved thanks to her perfect English, my experience was fantastic. The carne asada taco I received was the best I’ve ever had, even surpassing those I’ve tried in Mexico! The tortilla and ingredients tasted incredibly fresh, and the carne asada was seasoned to perfection. This taco joint has now become my go-to spot in Sacramento. I can’t recommend it enough! The vibrant interior not only offers a lively atmosphere but also beautifully showcases the richness of Mexican culture. If you're in the area, be sure to give this place a try!

Homemade tortillas you can’t find anywhere else in Sacramento, great food and a comfortable atmosphere. The staff always tries to do their best by serving you as quickly as they can. Support family owned businesses!

I'm glad this is where my family decided to eat before heading back home from our trip. The food is authentic, tortillas are hand made and they even had mariachi. Aside from the food being delicious, the staff was friendly and made seating accommodations for our big party ( party of 8 or more, the bill cannot be split) . It does unfortunately get a little too loud between talking within your table and the staff with the mariachi going table to table for song requests (first song free, $20 each song after) but overall it was a pretty good vibe. I wouldn't definitely want to go back to try more of their menu.

Had the combo plate: enchilada and tostada de birria. The rice and refried beans were spot on; the tostada meaty enough and the enchilda, perfect enough to round out my dinner but best of all, the handmade tortilla. I could not finish the combo, so I'llI have some rice and refried beans and the rest of that chewy tortilla for breakfast. Thx

Great service, very friendly and efficient. I went out of my way to eat at Nena's because I'd read great reviews and comments. My Burrito was fantastic!
